This course is a focused examination of teaching reading comprehension strategies in an F-2 classroom, using an example quality mentor text - Phillip Bunting's Not cute.
Learning outcomes:
- Examine a range of strategies to assist student inferential comprehension.
- Explore a practical example and close study of one book shortlisted for the CBCA book awards.
- Comprehend all aspects of a selected book - Illustrations, text structure, literary devices and vocabulary.

This is a perfect opportunity for colleagues to work together in a year, stage or full staff meeting. This course is self-paced and unmoderated. All participants have access to materials for 365 days from the date they register.
How does it work?
- Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
- Group booking: Schools interested in making a group booking should email us the number of teachers they wish to enrol in order to receive a quote.
Completing this workshop will contribute 1 hour (NSW - Elective PL) of online Professional Learning addressing 1.1.2, 1.2.2, 1.5.2, 2.1.2, 2.2.2, 3.2.2, 3.3.2 and 4.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
