Terms and conditions for course registrations

These terms apply to registrations for professional learning courses, events and conferences delivered by the Primary English Teaching Association trading as Primary English Teaching Association Australia (PETAA).

By registering for a course or event, you agree to these terms. These terms apply in addition to PETAA’s Website Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Scope of these terms

These terms govern registration, cancellation, transfer and refund conditions for PETAA professional learning offerings.

They do not apply to purchases of books or digital publications, which are governed by PETAA’s Online Store Terms.

Course types

For the purposes of these terms, PETAA delivers the following course types:

  • Face-to-face courses – in-person workshops or events
  • Webinars – live online sessions, occasionally offered at a fee and frequently for free for members
  • Self-paced online courses – delivered via PETAA’s online learning platform
  • Conferences – delivered face-to-face, via livestream, or on-demand

Specific conditions apply depending on the course type.

Cancellation by registrants —face-to-face courses

  • Cancellations must be notified in writing (email: [email protected]). 
  • Cancellations received less than five working days before the course will incur a cancellation fee of $50 per delegate ($25 for half-day courses).
  • Cancellations received within two working days of the course are non-refundable.

Cancellation by registrants —paid webinars

  • A full refund is available where cancellation is notified in writing at least 48 hours before the webinar.
  • Cancellations received less than 48 hours before commencement are non-refundable.

Cancellation by registrants —self-paced online courses

  • Your 365 day access to a self-paced online course is deemed to commence when login access is provided.
  • Once access has commenced, no refund is available, except where required under the Australian Consumer Law. 

Cancellation by PETAA

PETAA may cancel a course where minimum registration numbers are not met or where circumstances beyond PETAA’s reasonable control require cancellation.

Where PETAA cancels a course, registrants will be offered a full refund or, where appropriate, an alternative arrangement.

Registrants are responsible for ensuring their contact details are current so PETAA can notify them of any changes.

Registration transfer

Transfers within the same school
Registrations may be transferred to another staff member employed at the same school, provided PETAA is notified as early as possible (email: [email protected], phone: 02 8020 3900).

Transfers between courses
Where possible, registrations may be transferred to another course if requested before the original course has taken place. Transfers are not available where: 

  • the course has already run
  • the registrant did not attend
  • the registrant failed to attend without notice

Late registrations

Where places are available, registrations may be accepted up to the day of the course. Late registrants should note that their name may not appear on attendance records prepared in advance.

PETAA annual Leading with Literacy Conference

Attending face-to-face at the Conference venue: 

  • Cancellations must be notified in writing by email.
  • Cancellations received before 30 September will incur a fee of $100.
  • Cancellations received after 30 September will incur a fee of $230.
  • Transfers from face-to-face to online attendance after this date may be permitted; any difference in fees will not be refunded.

Attending online via livestream or on-demand passes: 

  • Cancellations must be notified in writing by email.
  • Cancellations received before 30 September will incur a fee of $50.
  • Cancellations received after 30 September will incur a fee of $100.
  • Transfers between delivery modes may be permitted; any difference in fees will not be refunded.

Discounted tickets purchased on-site at the previous year's conference: 

  • For tickets purchased on-site at the conference at a discounted rate, no refund of the price difference is available for changes from face-to-face to online attendance.

General

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you may have under the Australian Consumer Law. PETAA’s Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected in connection with course registrations, attendance and course delivery.
